Professor Emeritus Sheldon Greer Passes Away, Services on Friday

Sheldon Greer, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, passed away on Monday, December 19. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 23, at 1 p.m., at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel, 20955 Biscayne Boulevard, Aventura, Florida 33180. Following the services, a gathering of family and friends will be held at the same location until 6 p.m.

DRI Director Dr. Camillo Ricordi Receives Advocacy Award

Camillo Ricordi, M.D., Director of the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, received the World Stem Cell Summit’s Advocacy Award for being “a path-finding diabetes researcher, motivating the biomedical community to take a stand for cures.” He accepted the award on December 7 during the annual Stem Cell Action Gala at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
