Mathias G. Lichtenheld, M.D.

Current Research Interests
His laboratory pioneered investigations in the transcriptional regulation of cytotoxic effector genes by CD8 T-cells and NK cells, specifically perforin 1. His interest in the control of host defense mechanisms also led him to work on multiple myeloma and to refine experimental conditions to enhance adoptive immunotherapy. Most recently he entered HIV research and is funded by the state of Florida to investigate innate immune defense mechanisms by virally infected cells and their pharmacological activation.
